The Global Health Group at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) published 11 country briefings for the Asia Pacific which, for the first time, provide a comprehensive yet succinct overview of the history and current malaria situations in these countries. The UCSF Global Health Group, in partnership with the Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network (APMEN) and the national malaria programs of each country, have published the country briefings following the fourth annual APMEN meeting which took place May 7 – 11, 2012 in Seoul, Korea. These briefings reflect the APMEN meeting's theme of "Efficiency in Elimination," providing timely information on how each country is tackling malaria elimination at a time of malaria funding uncertainty. The country briefings synthesize country-specific information into easy-to-read summaries designed to be used by researchers, policy makers, donors, malaria programs and implementers, as well as other stakeholders interested in malaria and elimination. Topics covered by these briefings include malaria and health financing indicators, progress towards malaria elimination, potential challenges to achieving and maintaining elimination, and innovative strategies and programs each country has used or is currently using in their quest to eliminate malaria.
